James Bond hunk Daniel Craig, about to make his Broadway debut this season in “A Steady Rain” (tickets), has been cast in a gripping new film. The guy behind the latest James Bond incarnation is to star in the psychological thriller “Dream House”, directed by Jim Sheridan. Craig begins filming in late January, 2010. Daniel Craig will play the part of a New York publishing executive who moves his family to a New England hamlet, before discovering that the house was once the setting for a gruesome murder. “Dream House” comes from a screenplay by the gifted David Loucka and will be produced by James G. Robinson along with David Robinson, Daniel Bobker and Ehren Krueger.
“A Steady Rain” is scheduled to preview on September 10, 2009 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York City. The production, about 2 Chicago police officers who endure a harrowing test of their worth as policemen and human beings, is set for a limited 12-week run. Opening night for “A Steady Rain” is September 29, 2009.
All eyes wil be on Craig and stage partner Hugh Jackman, as the two work together to produce a smorgasbord of tension, fear, violence and resignation. “A Steady Rain” has already received multiple rave reviews, as the script by Keith Huff has garnered such high attention.
Craig has a stage pedigree to match his Hollywood one; he worked with the Royal National Theatre and the Peter Hall Company at the Old Vic in “Angels in America” and “Hurlyburly”, respectively. His movie appearances include “Defiance,” “Quantum of Solace,” “Flashbacks of a Fool,” “The Golden Compass,” “The Invasion,” “Casino Royale,” “Infamous” and “Renaissance,” among many others.
